Working together

How an engagement runs, from first email to handover.

5 questions
How do we get started with you?

Send the brief through the form or by email. A senior lead reads it and replies within one business day with real questions. If it looks like a fit we book a free 30-minute call, then send a written proposal.

Who will I actually be working with?

The people on the pitch call, named in the contract with their committed hours. There is no junior handover after signature. In eleven years we have made that swap zero times.

How do you handle time zones and overlap hours?

“Do you work in our timezone” is the wrong question, because nobody says no. We commit to four guaranteed overlap hours with US Eastern (18:30–22:30 IST) and a full overlap with the UK and Europe, with the names in the contract.

What if we disagree with your recommendation?

We argue it out properly and then you decide, because it is your business. Every proposal contains a section titled “what we think you are wrong about”. What we will not do is quietly build something we think is a mistake.

How much of my time will the project take?

Two to four hours a week: one call, consolidated feedback within five working days of each review, and content or access when we ask. Projects slip from late feedback far more often than from engineering.

Scope & contracts

How work is scoped, what you sign, and what happens if you stop.

6 questions
How do you scope and quote a project?

Every project is quoted individually. After a free 30-minute consultation you get a written proposal covering what is included, the timeline, who works on it and the success metric we will be judged on.

Do you work to a fixed scope?

Yes. We quote against a written scope, so you know what is included before you commit and we carry the estimating risk. Anything outside that scope is agreed in writing before it starts.

What are your payment terms?

Typically 40% on signature, 40% at an agreed midpoint and 20% on delivery. Retainers are invoiced monthly in advance and invoices are payable within 14 days. Indian clients are charged GST; international invoices are raised in USD or GBP.

Who owns the code and the designs at the end?

You do, on receipt of full payment, worldwide and in perpetuity. The repository sits under your organisation from commit one with us as collaborators. We sign a separate IP assignment on request.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes, usually the same day you send it. We can also work under your MSA instead of our terms if your legal team would rather, and it does not slow anything down.

What happens if we want to stop mid-project?

You can. Either party terminates with 14 days’ written notice, you pay for work completed and committed to that date, and the balance of the deposit is returned within 14 working days. Everything produced is handed over in editable form.

eCommerce & CRO

Choosing a platform, moving off one, and testing before rebuilding.

5 questions
Shopify or WooCommerce — which should we choose?

The question is not which is better. It is which one your team can still run in eighteen months, at the volume you expect then. Small team, focused catalogue: usually Shopify. Commerce beside content, memberships or complex B2B pricing: WooCommerce or Adobe Commerce.

Will migrating to a new platform hurt our SEO?

It does not have to. Migrations we run typically hold their rankings, including catalogues past 18,000 SKUs. The work that makes the difference is unglamorous: a complete redirect map, three weeks of crawling it in staging, and shipping it with the migration.

Do we need CRO or a full redesign?

Two in three clients who arrive asking for a redesign run a testing programme instead, because it is cheaper and it works. Four weeks of research settles it. Sometimes the underlying structure genuinely is wrong, and then we say so.

How long before CRO shows results?

First hypotheses ship in week five or six, and a meaningful read takes three to four months. Most tests need a two-week minimum runtime and we do not call winners early. Median lift in revenue per session across our programmes is around 31%.

Can you fix a store another agency built?

Yes — rescue work is roughly a third of what we do. It starts with a paid audit you keep whether or not you continue with us: what is salvageable, what is not, and a recommendation between fixing and rebuilding.

Design & branding

How the design side runs, and what you get at the end of it.

4 questions
Do you do design and development, or just one?

Both, and the split between them is what goes wrong at most agencies. A designer sits in the research phase on every project, because how a product page argues its case is a design decision that moves revenue.

Can you work with our existing brand guidelines?

Yes, and we prefer it when they are good. Where they are thin — no digital tokens, no interface patterns, no motion rules — we extend them and hand the extension back as part of your system.

How many design concepts do we get?

One considered direction, presented with its reasoning and the alternatives we rejected. Three-concept beauty parades get chosen on taste rather than fit. If the direction is wrong we iterate, and that is included.

Do you handle print and packaging production?

We deliver print-ready artwork with correct dielines, bleeds and substrate-aware colour, and we stay with your printer through proofing. We do not manage print procurement itself, but we will tell you exactly what to ask a printer for.

Apps, SaaS & MVPs

Scope, stack and how you avoid being locked in.

4 questions
How fast can you ship an MVP?

Fourteen to sixteen weeks to a first paying user is typical, and the speed comes from scope discipline rather than corner-cutting. The test for each feature: if we remove this, does a real pilot customer stop paying?

What technology stack do you build on?

Next.js and TypeScript with PostgreSQL for most web products; React Native or Flutter for mobile where one codebase makes sense, native when it does not. The deciding factor is what your future engineers can be hired for.

Will we be locked into you afterwards?

No, and we design against it. Multi-tenancy, authentication and billing go in from day one, everything is documented, and every build contract includes a paid two-week overlap where your own engineers ship real features with us on call.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance and support?

Yes, on a monthly retainer with 30 days’ notice either side — but it is a choice, not a dependency. Plenty of clients take the handover and run it themselves, then come back for the next build.

Trust & delivery

Who we are, how we handle access, and what happens if it goes wrong.

5 questions
What happens if the project goes wrong?

If we materially fail to deliver what the proposal specified and cannot put it right within 30 days of you telling us in writing, you get a full refund of the fees for that deliverable. Invoked twice in eleven years, honoured both times.

Can we speak to a reference client?

Yes, and before you sign rather than after. We introduce you to a client in a comparable sector for an unscripted call, and we do not brief them beforehand.

How do you handle security and system access?

Access to your systems is granted per person and revoked at project end. Credentials live in an encrypted vault, never in email or chat, and our own systems use two-factor authentication. Breach notification within 72 hours is in our privacy policy.

Are you a real company or a group of freelancers?

A registered company in Kolkata, West Bengal, trading since 2020 with a permanent in-house team. Everyone on your project is an employee, not a subcontractor sourced per job.

What support do we get after launch?

Defects reported within 30 days of delivery are fixed at no charge. After that you can take a retainer, buy a block of hours, or run it yourself with the documentation and handover session we provide.
